Emily Young
EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR, COFOUNDER
Emily leads the engineering and strategic operations at The Okoa Project. She graduated from MIT with a degree in Mechanical Engineering, starting The Okoa Project as a spinout of a class through MIT's D-Lab. Her expertise is in human centered design, global product development, and mechanical systems - with strong interests in Global and Maternal Healthcare. In her free time, you can catch Emily hiking through the mountains, painting, and trying out new recipes.
Sade Nabahe
COFOUNDER
Sade graduated from MIT with a degree in Mechanical Engineering, and has worked on development projects for communities in Peru, Lesotho, and India. Sade worked on Okoa part time since the original class throughout college and leads project management and product testing. Her previous work experiences include Intel, National Renewable Energy Laboratory and Fundación Chile where she collaborated on an ocean energy cost and supply chain analysis study.
Eva Boal
COFOUNDER
Eva graduated MIT with degrees in Management Science and Math with Computer Science. She focused on studying domestic and international social enterprises and varying factors that have lead them to success, leading to her joining the team in Spring 2017. She lead ambulance pilot implementation and financial management.
Leah Turner
Director of Development
Leads strategic planning work for domestic and international fundraising and marketing for The Okoa Project. Leah graduated from Brandeis University’s Heller School with a Master of Arts in Sustainable International Development. Through her work, Leah strives to connect with people through a shared dedication to service; she believes that the most meaningful part of development work is leading others to find their passion for serving others and showing them the difference they make every day. She enjoys watching basketball, reading memoirs, and all things spicy.
Ekow Tawiah Damoah-Ampiah
Country Director, Ghana
Ekow leads the Programming Operations in Ghana for The Okoa Project, overseeing the ambulance development, implementation, and monitoring. Ekow received a Master of Arts degree in Sustainable International Development at the Heller School for Social Policy and Management, Brandeis University. He is a dedicated development practitioner with experience in entrepreneurship, multicultural group management, leadership and teamwork. Interest in working relentlessly to improve the well being of others by understanding deeply their social and economic concerns.
Caitlin Browne
Monitoring and evaluation consultant
Leads the design, monitoring, and evaluation of programming in Ghana. Caitlin is originally from Ohio, but has spent time living in Tanzania where she learned Swahili. Before joining The Okoa Project, she worked in Dar es Salaam Tanzania as an M&E officer where she learned about the opportunities and barriers to program implementation within different cultural and linguistic contexts. Outside of work you can most likely find her staying active by running, biking, doing yoga, and spending time with friends.

Stephanie Nmaju
Monitoring & evaluation, Fundraising, Ghana
Develops context-specific fundraising strategy for The Okoa Project’s Ghanaian entity and contributes to the monitoring and evaluation of our programming work in Ghana. Stephanie is originally from Nigeria but is currently living in Ghana. She is passionate about health, education, and sustainable systems. Stephanie is an alumni of AIESEC in Ghana who is experienced in project and people management, leadership and community development work.
